Copilot on teams Android keeps turning itself on. I looked through docs & found I was doing things correctly. So I opened it up out of frustration.

I know it means nothing, but I had to say (type?) it out loud. I have really come to hate Windows since 11 was forced on us at work.

Ironically, it’ll just ape back what you want to hear by being sympathetic towards my concerns, addressing nothing.

Don’t know who’s more pathetic, the chatbot or me 🥲

since 11 was forced on us at work.

Windows 10 is coming to end of life and your org is basically being forced to upgrade themselves. Many people are sad to see it go.

Personally, I left Windows 11 for Linux Mint because I bought 11 Pro OEM and was downgraded to home with 11.

Professionally, I am doing my best to acknowledge people’s loss in the workplace as I migrate them to 11.

Yeah, since it was the discounted OEM edition they sold for $100 or so.

Whatever. I use it to activate my son’s desktop and my W11 VM.

That happened to a friend of mine too, which caused major issues because she was using hyper-v for a work project before the machine upgraded itself overnight

I thought 11 was the cleanest looking Windows in a long time. Really liked it. Ironically it’s the Windows version I have used the least, because I started gaming full-time on Linux, so that eliminated the only use I had for Windows.

Same. I had to install it in a VM to do some Wndows specific development and it was very clean. I haven’t noticed any ads or intrusive popups. I never used Windows 10 but whenever I saw someone using it at work it was always extremely noisy with news alerts and other shit popping up all the time.

Did the “upgrade” to win11 last week, it’s been quite horrible especially the windows explorer which hangs for 5s every time I open a folder 😮‍💨

I don’t use Windows anymore, but I understand if you have to. Recently I found this alternative to the windows explorer build from the ground up to be as efficient as possible https://filepilot.tech/ It’s a cool project from a great programmer that has a presentation on the Better Software Conference showing how it works underneath. It uses older windows API functions that apparently are way faster than the modern alternatives.

Thanks for linking, this will be great the next time I deal with a Windows machine!

Hangs for 5s? I think you have bigger issues than windows friend

I hate MS as much as the next guy but my W11 install works lightning fast but I also have a gen 5 m.2 SSD

I’m such a Linux man as everyone else here, but I haven’t noticed any lagginess in windows Explorer after the upgrade. It’s just the same, opens folders instantly.

Then it could be a specific case that causes the lags. I noticed that a complicated folder structure, maybe in combination with sharepoint links, are the worst. and the icons would take some time to load as well 😞. I’m even on a beefy and expensive company workstation laptop.
