Yeah, every time I have ever tried Gimp, attempting to do anything felt like someone had purposefully been contrarian and made every operation work in the hardest and most confusing way.
And someone may say, “well, you just have to learn it!” OK, sure. Or I can use something that makes much more sense from the jump like Affinity Photo. (Yes, I know you have to pay for it, but it’s worth it. Yes, I know not everyone has the money to do so.)
I definitely care about the opinions of CEOs because it directly lets me know which companies to support or not.
If a CEO is a trash, then I don’t want to give them my money. Simple capitalism, that.
Which ai did you use?
I have a friend trying to find one where she can input her own photos to create new AI works based on them. Like “based on [image I supplied], create ____ using the car/tree/cat/etc in the original image.”

I think all told I spent about $250, but $70 of that was paying someone to do the initial soldering. It’s something I probably could have done, but I decided it’d take me forever to do it.
I didn’t have any specific reason to go with this one other than that I know some people with some Ergodox, and while they are neat, I just wanted something different. And all told I saved $100 with this one. I don’t feel like I’m losing any functionality, either, which is nice, and theoretically I could add more stuff to the screens that the Ergodox obviously doesn’t have.
I also like that they are really small and pretty thin, so taking it with me in my bag isn’t that hard. And setting up on a table is easy and doesn’t take up too much space.
I definitely get the concern, but I just don’t think it’s going to be as dire as some are predicting.
For me, I’ve built up an OK following on Masto with people I already like to talk to. So if Threads comes along, federates, and then pulls the plug later on, I’ll just be back to where I am now. Even if Meta adds to ActivityPub that doesn’t necessarily mean things that currently work are removed so apps should still be able to function as they do now. At least to my understanding.
And I’m no Meta apologist. I deleted Facebook at least five or six years ago because it increasingly felt terrible to use. And I’ve never had an Instagram account. But, personally, I’m OK to wait and see how this plays out instead of writing it off entirely from the start.
I’m going to trust Eugen’s take on the subject far more than some doom and gloom post. At least for now.

I’m eager to see when it opens up for federation.
There’s been a lot of hand wringing on Mastodon about it, but I feel like if I can follow a friend who uses Threads from my Mastodon account then great. I don’t have to use their app AND I can follow/interact with my friends.
In the privacy section of the App Store it shows Threads basically collecting all data on your phone. So I guess standard Meta practice.

You are right. I just checked out gimp.org, and…IS there a single image of the software on that site?
If they want new users, asking them to blindly download software without even a look or maybe a video of new features is not it.
